Planning to purchase a laptop under 55000 Rs and want to know what are the best options right now? You have come to the right place.
In this guide, you’ll find my handpicked 10 best laptops under 55000 Rs for 2023, along with details on in which areas each laptop model excels and falls short.
I have done complete research of the market and have found that there are a lot of laptops with older 11th Generation Intel Core i5 and 4th Generation AMD Ryzen 5 processors available in this price range. One should simply avoid buying them, as the newer laptops with the latest 12th Generation Intel Core i5 and 5th Generation AMD Ryzen 5 processors can also be purchased under 55000 Rs.
Buying any of those older models would be a huge mistake, especially at their full price without any discounts.
But you don’t have to worry about it since you are here, as I have only selected the latest laptop models for this guide.
Apart from that, I have also ensured that my laptop picks cover all the different needs of people. So be it everyday office work, gaming, programming, or creative tasks like photo and video editing, there’s a laptop suitable for all those tasks and more in the list below.
So, just relax and read on as I guide you through selecting the best laptop under 55k for you.

The HP 15s eq2182AU, although is a very complicated name, but is an excellent value for money laptop. It is powered by an AMD Ryzen 5 5500U 6-core processor, and it offers 16GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD storage. Performance-wise, this laptop is nothing short of impressive, especially considering its price, which is just about 50,000!
While the performance of the laptop is top-notch, you also get a pretty decent quality 15.6-inch full HD anti-glare display, a full-size keyboard (which unfortunately isn’t backlit) and all the required ports on this one.
Also, the design of the HP 15s is pretty good looking, in my opinion, with the brushed silver colour finish. However, its exterior is all plastic, so it has some flex on the keyboard deck and the lid.
If we talk about its internal design, the HP 15s has both the RAM and storage drive user upgradeable, and its Wi-Fi card is also replaceable, which is always great.
Overall, the HP 15s does have some flaws, but no laptop in this price range will be perfect in all the ways. Still, this HP 15s laptop checks a lot of the right boxes. Its powerful performance, good screen, and keyboard feel lend it our top pick rank in the under 5500 Rs category.
Not to forget its upgradeable internal design, which is a huge plus if you want your laptop to service your needs fine even after 5+ years.

The IdeaPad Gaming 3 15 also has a 15.6-inch full HD display with a 120Hz refresh rate, which takes the gaming experience on this laptop a step ahead by smoothing out all the in-game visuals. The keyboard is also excellent for gaming and everyday use with a full layout (a.k.a. has a Numpad) and white backlighting to use comfortably at night. And, while it’s not ideal to play games using a trackpad, you will have no issues using this laptop’s trackpad with everyday use. It is of a pretty decent size and offers a smooth and precise tracking experience.
The laptop also has 3 x USB Type-A ports, an HDMI port, and an SD card reader, along with air vents on both sides, which dissipate heat that its powerful two-fan and three heat pipe cooling system pulls from inside. 3. Dell Inspiron 7420 2 in 1 Laptop
Specifications:
- CPU: 12th Generation Intel Core i3-1215U Hexa-Core (Up to 4.4 GHz)
- GPU: Intel UHD integrated
- RAM: 8GB DDR4 3200 MHz
- Storage: 256GB SSD
- Display: 14-inch Full HD+ Touchscreen (250 nits)
- Weight: 1.5 Kg
Are you looking for a laptop with touchscreen display under 55000 Rs? Then this Dell Inspiron 7420 2 in 1 laptop is the perfect option for you.
It has a 14-inch FHD+ (tall 16:10 aspect ratio) display with touch support, which makes working on this laptop far more accessible than using just a trackpad. Plus, the display is also fantastic in terms of overall colour reproduction and brightness. Watching high resolution videos or playing games is visually appealing on this laptop. And, not to forget, this is a 2 in 1 laptop, so you can open its lid and rotate it 360 degrees to convert this laptop into a tablet!
Following the excellent screen is also a super tactile backlit keyboard that makes typing on it a very satisfying experience. The build quality is also robust and very premium as its body is made of aluminium. The laptop’s weight is also super light to take it anywhere and use it on the go with ease.
However, all these great features at a budgeted price of under 55000 Rs come at the cost of slightly compromised performance. Accordingly, the Inspiron 7420 2 in 1 rocks the latest 12th Gen but less performant Intel Core i3 processor with 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD – quite decent for the price. But you should not think its i3 processor is underpowered, as it has 6 cores and a clock frequency of up to 4.4 GHz!
So, using everyday used productivity apps like Word, Excel, web browsers and music players or even light gaming and editing jobs would be easily possible on this 2 in 1 laptop.
So overall, if you want to purchase the laptop with touchscreen display or a 2 in 1 type of laptop, then Dell Inspiron 7420 is the best option in this price range.
Reasons to buy:
- Amazing 16:10 touchscreen display
- Smooth performance with latest 12th generation Intel processor
- Comfy keyboard with backlit keys
- Fingerprint scanner for quick and secure logins
- High quality Full HD webcam
- Premium metal exterior
Reasons to avoid:
- Less powerful i3 processor than other models
4. Asus VivoBook 16X
Specifications:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600H Hexa-Core CPU (Up to 4.2 GHz)
- GPU: AMD Radeon integrated
- RAM: 8GB DDR4 3200 MHz
- Storage: 512GB SSD
- Display: 16-inch Full HD+ anti-glare screen (16:10 aspect ratio)
- Weight: 1.8 Kg
The Asus VivoBook 16X is a unique laptop because it is not a 13-inch, 15-inch, or 17-inch but a 16-inch laptop. This is one of the new sizes that laptops come in now, and I think it is the one you should prefer getting if you like working on a large screen. Usually, 17-inch laptops weigh a lot, and 16-inch laptops solve that problem by providing a large enough display in still a fairly portable form factor to travel with them comfortably.
Enough introduction about 16-inch laptops. Let’s talk about the Asus VivoBook 16X laptop now. So, it has a 16-inch FHD+ display with a 16:10 aspect ratio. Honestly, it feels wonderful to work on this laptop. The display’s taller aspect ratio plus the big size somehow just makes everything look more pretty and right in place to me for working efficiently. The keyboard on the Asus laptops has also gotten really good lately, and this VivoBook 16X has got the same treatment with deep travelling and perfectly placed backlit keys. Also, it has got the largest trackpad you will find on a laptop in this price segment, and it also has a fingerprint scanner.
Internally as well, the Asus VivoBook 16X packs a lot of punch with a high performance AMD Ryzen 5 six-core processor paired with a decent 8GB RAM and a roomy 512GB of SSD storage. The laptop, as you would expect, performs smoothly with almost anything you throw at it, including heavy productivity usage, light gaming and photo or video editing. The laptop also provides nearly all the ports (no SD card slot) as you get to see with any large sized notebook, and there’s also dual-band Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 4.1 support for wireless connectivity.
With a beautiful looking exterior finished in silver colour and rigorously tested MIL-STD build quality, the Asus VivoBook 16X is the perfect budget laptop under 55000 Rs if you prefer working on a larger screen.
Reasons to buy:
- Beautiful and immersive 16″ display with tall 16:10 aspect ratio
- Buttery smooth performance
- Large glass trackpad & very satisfying to type backlit keyboard
- Fingerprint scanner
- Tough MIL-STD tested build quality
- Webcam with privacy shutter
Reasons to avoid:
- No cons – It’s a masterpiece!
5. HP Pavilion 14
Specifications:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5625U hexa-core processor (Up to 4.3 GHz)
- GPU: AMD Radeon integrated
- RAM: 8GB DDR4 3200 MHz
- Storage: 512GB SSD
- Display: 14-inch Full HD IPS BrightView (157 PPI)
- Weight: 1.4 Kg
Not a fan of large laptops? No problem. This ultraportable HP Pavilion 14 laptop might tickle your fancy.
As mentioned, it is an ultraportable 14-inch laptop, again an unusual laptop size, but 14-inch Windows laptops have been around for quite a while now and are much more common than 16-inch laptops. Though if you are wondering what are the potential benefits of going with the 14-inch laptop over the 15″ or 13″ one, then again, 14-inch laptops provide similar benefits as 16-inch laptops. You get a larger display to work with but without a lot of added bulk.
Accordingly, this HP Pavilion 14 weighs only 1.4 Kg, making it the lightest laptop on our list. While it’s a portability-focused device, it does deliver at other aspects as well. Like performance, it is powered by a recent AMD Ryzen 5 processor and provides 8GB of RAM and 512GB of fast NVMe SSD to store your files. Also, it offers a decent number of ports, which is unusual for a thin and light laptop, and its build quality is also good because its metal built.
With features like the backlit keyboard, glass trackpad and B&O stereo speakers, the HP Pavilion 14 has a lot going for it. Plus, HP is also providing MS Office 2021 with lifetime validity with it, making it a steal deal for businessmen or women and students who want a lighter laptop for office work, programming or college.
Reasons to buy:
- Ultraportable premium design
- Smooth performance
- Bright and colourful display
- Long battery life & fast charging
- Premium features like – backlit keyboard and fingerprint scanner
- Lifetime Free MS Office 2021
Reasons to avoid:
- Webcam and microphone could be better
6. Asus VivoBook 15
Specifications:
- CPU: 12th Gen Intel Core i5-1235U 10-core processor (Up to 4.4 GHz)
- GPU: Intel Iris Xe integrated
- RAM: 8GB DDR4 3200 MHz
- Storage: 512GB SSD
- Display: 15.6-inch FHD LED-backlit Anti-Glare
- Weight: 1.7 Kg
Another excellent Asus laptop. However, the reason behind ranking this laptop this low is its price which keeps fluctuating below and slightly above 55000 Rs. So, it’ll take up your entire budget, or you might have to go somewhat over it to buy this laptop, but it’s worth it. Otherwise, this laptop wouldn’t be here on the list!
So, starting right from the USP of it and that is its latest 12th Generation Intel Core i5-1235U processor with 10-cores! So, Intel fans, here’s the notebook for you to consider in this price range (yes, finally).
As mentioned, the processor is the latest and belongs to the newest 12th generation family of processors from Intel, featuring completely new architecture that brings a host of improvements over older 11th Gen Intel processors (which you should not buy now – reminding again).
The powerful processor is also paired with a decent 8GB of RAM and a large capacity 512GB SSD drive. Both are upgradeable, so if you want to increase RAM or storage capacity even further, that’s possible with this laptop.
Apart from internal hardware, the VivoBook 15 also has a very nice 15.6-inch full HD anti-glare display with wide viewing angles. Plus, its design also looks beautiful, especially in this Blue colour.
All the standard ports are lined on both sides of the laptop, but I have two complaints here. First, its Type-C port is not Thunderbolt; second, it does not have an SD card reader. And, its keyboard, while being very comfortable to type, misses out on backlit keys. But you do get a fingerprint scanner on it for quickly logging into Windows at the touch of your finger.
So overall, the VivoBook 15 does have some flaws, but its powerful performance from the latest Intel processor is its strongest aspect. If you don’t need a backlit keyboard and Thunderbolt port, then VivoBook 15 is actually a good option that I recommend getting if you are interested in the laptop with i5 processor and 8GB RAM under 55000.
Reasons to buy:
- Newest and powerful 12th Generation Intel i5 processor with 10-cores
- Premium design
- Full size backlit keyboard
- Fingerprint scanner & privacy shutter on webcam
- Good variety of ports & latest wireless standard support for connectivity
Reasons to avoid:
- Slightly over 55000 Rs
- No thunderbolt port
7. Dell Inspiron 3525
Specifications:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5625U (6-cores), Up to 4.3 GHz
- GPU: AMD Radeon Integrated
- RAM: 8GB DDR4
- Storage: 512GB SSD
- Display: 15.6-inch Full HD IPS 120Hz refresh rate (250 nits)
- Weight: 1.6 Kg
So, back with another AMD-powered laptop, but this one is from Dell. A brand that’s trusted by many for its reliability and good after-sales service. But unfortunately, this Dell Inspiron 3525 lacks behind in a lot of ways than options from other brands, that I had to put it in the 7th position on the list.
Nothing wrong with its performance, though. You get a highly capable latest 5th Gen AMD Ryzen 5 processor inside with 8GB of RAM and 512GB SSD, delivering smooth performance with everyday jobs, and its integrated Radeon graphics also handles most modern games and light editing jobs without any issues. Its 15.6-inch full HD display is also awesome and unique in a way because it has a 120Hz refresh rate display. It’s no gaming laptop, but Dell is still offering a high refresh rate display on it, so everything feels ultra smooth on it.
You also get all the essential ports on it along with features like a lift-up hinge to elevate its bottom from the back to 1) improve airflow and 2) make the keyboard at a slight angle for comfortable typing.
You might be wondering now, if everything’s great, then what’s wrong? Why it’s at 7th place on this list? Well, the reason is its build quality. I think this Inspiron 3525 has a far boring looking design than those VivoBooks and HP Pavilion 14 mentioned above. Plus, this is an all-plastic built laptop, whereas you get full or partial metal build on the laptops mentioned above. On top of that, I think there’s no need for a 120Hz refresh rate display on this laptop. Instead, Dell should have given us the backlit keyboard, which happens to be missing on this laptop.
But it all depends on what you prefer. If you don’t want the backlit keyboard, or you are a good caretaker and don’t mind an all-plastic exterior or would like to stick with Dell just because it’s reliable and its service is hassle-free, then you can definitely consider this laptop. Rest assured, performance wise, it is right in line with the best options on this list.
Reasons to buy:
- Powerful performance
- Smooth 120Hz refresh rate display with ultra-thin bezels
- Lift up hinge provides ergonomic typing experience
- Good connectivity options with lot of ports
- Lightweight
Reasons to avoid:
- Design could be better
- No backlit keyboard
DEAL ALERT:
8. Asus VivoBook K15 OLED
Specifications:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5500U (6-cores, Up to 4 GHz)
- GPU: AMD Radeon integrated
- RAM: 16GB DDR4 3200 MHz
- Storage: 512GB SSD
- Display: 15.6-inch Full HD OLED with 600 nits brightness & 100% DCI-P3 colour
- Weight: 1.4 Kg
Yet another Asus laptop on the list, but before you think I am biased towards Asus, let me tell you that this VivoBook K15 has an OLED display, which is unique and not available on any other laptops in this price range.
The 15.6-inch OLED display has a peak brightness of 600 nits, which is very bright, and you’ll have no issues even using this laptop outdoors. Also, if you are into photo and video editing and do colour correction, the OLED display on the VivoBook K15 is highly colour accurate and covers 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut.
With an excellent OLED display, the VivoBook K15 also rocks a very powerful set of hardware specifications. It is powered by a 5th Gen AMD Ryzen 5 six-core processor paired with 8GB of RAM, and for storage, it features 1TB of HDD and 256GB of SSD, providing enough room to have all your photo and video editing projects saved locally on your laptop (no need of external hard drive).
Since this is a content creator focused device, it does have a memory card reader, but it is microSD. A full size SD card reader would have been better. Nonetheless, it does have all the other ports from standard USB Type-A to Type-C, a 3.5mm audio jack, and HDMI port for connecting an external display.
Overall, with the features like a backlit keyboard and fingerprint scanner, the Asus VivoBook K15 OLED is another great Asus laptop under 55k if you are into photo or video editing.
Reasons to buy:
- Bright and colour-rich OLED display
- Powerful performance from 6-core AMD processor & 16GB RAM
- Dual drives provide lot of storage space
- Super comfortable backlit keyboard with deep traveling keys
- Fingerprint scanner
- MS Office 2021 License included
Reasons to avoid:
- Has microSD card reader a full size one was preferred for this laptop
9. Acer Aspire 7
Specifications:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5500U 6 Cores with up to 4 GHz boost
- GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 4GB dedicated graphics
- RAM: 8GB DDR4
- Storage: 512GB SSD
- Display: 15.6-inch Full HD IPS LED-backlit
- Weight: 2.1 Kg
This Acer Aspire 7 has a personality of a business laptop, but inside, it is a complete badass with a powerful hexa-core AMD CPU and dedicated Nvidia graphics. If you want to buy a low-key gaming laptop that looks like a standard work notebook but is capable enough for gaming and other heavy usages, then this is the laptop for you.
As mentioned earlier, it is powered by an AMD Ryzen 5 processor and has a dedicated Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 GPU. Paired with the powerful CPU and GPU combo are 8GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD, which are enough to support editing software and games. Also, it is upgradeable, so you can increase its RAM to 16GB or storage to more than 512GB in the future if you want to.
Although it has hardware capable of gaming, it misses out on a high refresh rate display and comes with a standard 15.6-inch 60Hz IPS Full HD screen. But for everyday work, it is fantastic, and it also has a backlit keyboard to work comfortably at night or in dimly lit areas.
Acer also offers enough ports on the Aspire 7, and it also supports all the latest wireless standards, so connectivity wouldn’t be an issue.
With a strongly built professional design, the Acer Aspire 7 is another great laptop to consider in this price range, which can be used as a work notebook by day and a gaming laptop by night.
Reasons to buy:
- Comes with dedicated 4GB graphics
- Great build quality and professional design
- Lot of ports and has one USB-A port with power-off charging support
- Has a backlit keyboard
- Easily upgradeable RAM and storage drive
Reasons to avoid:
- No high refresh rate display
- Above 2Kg weight
